Bought new in year 2014 when my daughter was 5 years old. My daughter is the only owner. It plays beautifully and is good for all ages. The Walter Piano Company is an entirely family-run operation located in Elkhart, Indiana. Their console piano, the Walter 1520, features a full-sized direct studio action with long, individually weighted keys and long strings. You get a piano that is made to perform in a beautiful case that can fit inside your home. Its grand-shaped soundboard, made of specially selected solid quarter-sawn Bavarian or Sitka spruce panel stock, is specially designed to sustain the piano’s clear singing tone in the treble and eliminate tubbiness in the bass. Smooth scaling in the strings allows for consistency in sound across the breaks. Each individual piano is signed by a member of the Walter family. This special console was signed by the founder of the Walter Piano Company, the late Charles R. These pianos are hand crafted in Elkhart, Indiana, and are known for their quality, craftsmanship and tone. Used when our two children (now grown) were younger and took lessons. Played occasionally by my wife, but needs to be enjoyed by a true pianist. Specifications for this fine instrument are. Number of keys 88. Number of dampers 72. Height floor to keybed, 23 3/4. Action full size studio (direct blow) – Renner or Walter. Hammers 14#, reinforced, mothproofed, Australian felt. Key 16 3/16″ long, 1″ tall plus keybutton; individually weighted. Key covering material white-ivorine (acrylic resin) black – Phenolic resin; longer grand size. Keybed thickness 1 5/8 butcherblock construction. Plate grey iron casting finished in special bronze – O. Kelly – Ohio – Steinway owned. Speaking length of longest string 48 1/2″ (overall length 57 1/8″). Soundboard close-grained Sitka or Bavarian Spruce (not laminated). Size of soundboard 37 3/16″ x 56 1/4, ” 2090 square inches. Pinbloc 29 ply delignit.
