Antique Celesta Keyboard Kohler Chase Tube Chimes 3 octave Tabletop
Utterly fabulous CELESTA Chime Piano by Kohler & Chase. This is a very rare Table Top model it may even be a prototype that was never manufactured. We cannot find anything like it. Please contact me for an audio. ONE KEY (Lower D) sticks for a couple seconds after playing. ONE OR TWO of the hammer rods feel like they may need slight adjustment or tightening. (Please read below for info on Kohler & Chase Piano Co). Think “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and you’re getting close. This particular Celesta has Tubular Chime/Bells rather than the flat bars. All 37 Keys are in excellent condition with exception of a light yellow stain on the high B and C keys. NO CRACKS OR CHIPS. Keys are vintage and beautiful. Brass Chime tubes have some light discoloration and patina, see photos. Wooden “box” is hand constructed with slot-head screws, standard for the era. The wood is in excellent condition, no cracks or splits. All moving parts also excellent. Every note plays clear as a bell (pun intended) with no rattles or wobbles anywhere on the entire instrument. WITH THE EXCEPTIONS NOTED ABOVE! There is a “Dampener” along the upper edge, controlled by a brass bar, which swivels down if you want to keep all hammers from hitting the chimes. This Celesta is fitted with a very strong Wire at the back for Wall Display. With the exception of very minor adjustments, this piece is in fabulous condition. Dimensions: 22 x 18 x 5. This is a Monington and Weston Overstrung and under damped cottage Piano with six octaves – 74 keys – It is a well made Traditional British piano and has a double iron frame and dates to the 1930’s. It’s exceptional small size will allow it to fit in the smallest houses or upstairs is no problem. The case is a light mahogany finish and with few marks here and there as you would expect with furniture of the same age. Width 1.22 metres – 48. Height 1.05 m – 43. Depth (Away from the wall at Keyboard height). 50 m – 20. It has just been serviced, regulated, voiced and tuned. It’s not quite up to concert pitch but fine for a beginner and priced accordingly. Antique Wurlitzer Vaudeville Piano Travel Piano late 1930s 61 keys 5 octave
Wurlitzer Vaudeville or “Traveling” Piano. Condition is Used / Antique. Up for sale is this old Wurlitzer piano, guessing by the serial number 138860 it dates to the mid- to late 1930’s. It is a novelty piece. Most of the keys play, but this instrument needs work, some keys are not operating all that well, and after tuning, it tends to go out of tune sooner than it should. The E flat key in the 2nd octave from the bottom sticks, damper does not r-engage. However, it is a fun piece to have in the home, kids love it it’s kid size! And a novelty for visitors. Mom used to call this a “Vaudeville” piano, supposedly because it was a small enough instrument that it could be hoisted up into a truck or wagon by very strong persons.. It is a heavy instrument for musical groups or acts that would travel from city to city. It has 5 full octaves, plus one extra C at the top end, so a total of 61 keys. Top is 40.5 inches wide. 40 inches wide at the bulk of the instrument (area above the keyboard). Depth from rear to the front trim is 21 inches. Depth of the top half of the instrument is approximately 12 inches. From floor to top the instrument stands at 40 3/8 inches, including the casters. There is a small bench that is 24 inches wide x 14 3/8 inches deep, and stands approximately 14 7/8 inches tall. The bench opens for music storage inside. Ivories are in fair condition considering age, but many have chipped edges, in fact I think every white key has a chipped edge. Ebonies are in fair to good condition for their age, but many have worn finish. If I didn’t know any better I’d think they were wooden. And maybe they are. I play piano, but don’t know a lot about how they are made. I’ve uploaded a dozen pictures. If you need more photos please let me know and I can post a Google album or something.
