A rare and historically important instrument, the RCA Storytone piano was built in 1939 in a joint venture between Story & Clark and RCA. The first American electric piano, it debuted at the 1939 World’s Fair. It has an art deco/streamline design that rivals that of the finest furniture of the era. The piano has normal strings and action but no soundboard — this Storytone has electromagnetic pickups and a speaker system, and its original tube amplifier and power supply. T works especially well for sustained styles of playing, and sounds much more like a real piano than a Rhodes, Wurlitzer or Helpinstill, and fuller and thicker than a Yamaha CP-70 or Kawai EP-308. This RCA Storytone comes with the original “deluxe” bench with turntable and radio inside. Steck Traditional Overstrung Piano Mahogany Case Inc. Local Delivery
This is a Steck Traditional style Iron Frame, Overstrung and under damped Piano with a keyboard of 7 octaves , dating to the 1920’s. This is a well respected piano maker, the same company made Aeolian Pianolas and Weber Pianos, dating to the 1920’s. This particular piano has been the subject of a professional restoration a few years ago and will work fine for many years with just the occasional tuning. The case is a mahogany finish, clean but a few light marks on the top lid. This is a good example of a good quality English made piano. We can provide a WhatsApp video if you find us via the old fashioned’blower. It has just been serviced, regulated, voiced and tuned to concert Pitch (A440) and suitable for a beginner to do a few grades with. It has a f ull tone on all the strings and a positive firm touch. Height 1.22 metres – 49. Width 1.52 metres – 60. Depth (away from the wall at keyboard height) 61 cm – 24. You are welcome to come and play this piano or have it demonstrated in South Brent, Devon. When you look inside you don’t see a different type of wood but the same as what’s on the outside in the same grain pattern. This piano is recently from a private home and in impeccable original condition. The Yamaha U3 is currently the very finest upright made in the world today. Add an additional 30 to 40% for the Rosewood case and your in a fine baby grand price range. Exterior is in new condition as the rest of the piano. Hammers, keycaps, and all mechanics like the day it left the factory in 1986. Additional pictures available upon request! You will not see anything anywhere presented like the pianos I list.
