She was handmade by craftsman in 1912 at the Steger and Sons factory in Steger, Illinois (Near Chicago). Under the original finish you’ll discover tightly grained Honduran Mahogany, hewn from slow growing trees in the very dense forest way back then. The result is a deep, rich, resonant sound that a new instrument can not produce. The ivories were replaced in 1999 and there are 3 original brass foot pedals, all in working order. Some wear can be seen on the legs, and in the wood below the keyboard. However, at present, you can own this fine instrument, a piece of history that endures and continues to create, delight and entertain those who appreciate the richness of a classic.
