Vintage 1930’s/1940’s Haddorff Vertichord Mahogany Spinet Piano & Matching Bench
We are now joining forces with a Certified Gemologist Appraiser to bring you one of a kind estate pieces, diamonds, fine gold, sterling silver, color gemstones and pearls with accurate and dependable listings. Up for sale is a vintage Haddorff Vertichord Piano. The piano is mahogany and is marked inside with a serial number 127042. It comes with the original matching bench and keys. All the keys play with no issue or concerns. The piano measures 60 inches wide, 26 inches deep and stands 39.5 inches tall. It is in great condition and comes from a smoke and pet free home. Here is some additional information on the company and the Vertichord. The Haddorff Piano Company was established by Charles A. Haddorff in 1901 in Rockford, Illinois. The original factory was located at 55 Ethel Street. During the 1920s the firm was controlled by The Krakauer Brothers Piano Company. One of Haddorffs most famous contribution to the piano industry was their introduction of the Vertichord, a small upright piano introduced the 1930s. During the year 1935, the Haddorff Piano Co. Created one of the great piano sensations of all time by the introduction of a new and original piano form known as the vertichord This piano achieved what was up to that time regarded as an impossibility, a vertical piano which could never be called an “upright, ” but which preserved all the advantages of that type of piano in the way of space economy, sound board area, and string lengths. The Vertichord was the original and the prototype of all of the pianos which have since come to be known as Spinets and Consoles and with now account for the great majority of the total piano production. The basic design and construction of the Vertichord are fully covered by patents. The Vertichord presents a further sensational improvement in small piano tonal development in the form of a secondary sound board connected with the main board by means of a “tone post” called the acoustic coupler. This invention increases the sound board area by more than half, with a corresponding improvement in the power and quality of tone. Check out our other auctions for more new and estate jewelry. Any questions, or if you would like additional photographs, please do not hesitate to ask.
