With the exotic woods and lavish carving, this type of piano is an example of some of the finest craftsmanship and quality ever to be put into piano manufacturing. Some keys need updated ivory. A Beautiful Hallet, Davis & Co. Upright Piano Manufactured in Boston, MA in 1894 and Appraised. Fair Condition – Some scuffs and abrasions to the wood – Some keys have been chipped – NO cracks in the soundboard – All hammers, keys, pedals in good working order – Recently tuned – All hinges are working – Felts in good condition – No missing strings – See pictures – Sounds great. HALLET & DAVIS Established 1839 293 Washington Street Boston, MA. HALLET AND DAVIS COMPANY Among the progressive and enterprising corporations in the piano industry the Hallet and Davis Company of Boston stands in the front rank. With a glorious record of nearly eighty years behind it, new vigor was injected into the old concern when the Conway Company took charge of it in 1905. Established in 1839, began as Brown & Hallet in 1833 then Brown retired in 1843 and he was replaced by George H. Hallet became part of Hallet, Cumston & Allen, in 1847 when Mr. Allen resigned from Hallet, Allen & Cumston to form Brown & Allen about 1850; Hallet & Cumston was formed when Allen withdrew. Address in 1851 & 1852 was 409 Washington, Boston, which appears on iron plate of square piano #9932. Also made: Virtuola Player. Hallet & Davis & Company, a new concern, immediately succeeded Brown & Hallet, being composed of Russell Hallet, of the latter combination, George H. Davis, who was known up to 1879 in musical and trade circles as the presiding genius of the present popular firm of Hallet & Davis, and Henry Allen. After the Conway brothers gained control of the Hallet & Davis Company and renamed the firm, the elder brother E. The younger brother C. Became manager of wholesale and retail departments. Continuing to use the trade name Hallet & Davis, the Conway trade name was introduced in 1906. Conway and Conover pianos were competitive instruments, available from 1906 to 1940.
