Schubert Console
Here we have a Schubert Console Piano. Make: Schubert Model: Console Finish: (SM) Satin Mahogany Status: Used/Reconditioned. The Schubert Piano Company was established in New York City in 1880 by Mr. Peter Duffy, and then incorporated in 1885 with Mr. The firm built very well made pianos, with several rather extravagant models were available. By the turn-of-the-century, Schubert was building an impressive line of upright pianos, player pianos and baby grand pianos. Schubert also produced a very successful line of player pianos under the “Automatic Player Piano Company” brand name. Perhaps Schubert was best known for their “Mandolin Piano”. The Mandolin Piano was an upright piano equipped with a mechanism that dropped metal tabs between the piano hammers and strings via pressing the middle pedal. This effect gave the instrument the sound of a mandolin, zither, banjo or guitar. The Schubert Piano Company even composed and published special sheet music for the Mandolin Piano, and it was marketed very aggressively. This unique sound quickly caught on and became widely known as the “rinky tink” or “honky tonk” piano sound used in saloons and bars across the land for decades. Lester continued to build pianos under the Schubert brand name until 1937. (Schubert Console) as advertised. Located at our Pasadena location.

Schubert upright Piano For Sale. Only One User in its lifetime and in great condition! I have taken care of this piano because I wanted to pass it down to my children. Unfortunately due to COVID, my parents are moving soon and have to downsize so they will not be able to take it with them, I live in an apartment. The piano was tuned last year (2020), it plays beautifully, and includes the bench with storage space for books and sheet music. There are some chips on the bottom leg and minor wear to the legs of the bench. The wheels need greasing. It is a great starter piano for your kids or for a beginner looking to own one.

Piano Borisova standard upright oak 1993 Belarus vintage “Schubert” w/bench. An oak arts & crafts style 1993 vintage Schubert made by Belarus (Borisova piano factory) standard upright piano 43.5 tall x 58.25 wide x 23 deep with matching bench. The action is known as a single blow action. The owner did the following to this piano: keys are recovered, installed a Dampp-Chaser, action regulated and some slight voicing of hammers done. The price asked for the piano is fair in that it has been improved and represents at least the value of perhaps 8 to 10 top of the line dress shirts, a decent practice piano and a good piano for beginners through those with intermediate abilit. His piano is certainly suitable for a school or church, but I would prefer it to find a good home where little fingers could be shown how to play it. I have been asked to add that I have learned and practiced pieces by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Debussy, Scrabin and Brahms on this piano. This piano is built to take it and has a good scale, especially in the bass where the usual pin placement was changed by the piano’s designers to enable a longer speaking length to the strings. The hammers are also good and generally the sound and feel of this piano should continue to improve with use. It has had regular though light use for most of its life and fairly regular tuning. This is actually a better than average piano for the price, certainly better than anything for twice the price coming out of Asia these days. No piano performs at its peak unless it is regularly tuned and otherwise maintained. And the best time to tune a piano is after it has been placed in its new home and allowed to get used to its new environment. This piano is in need of a tuning and will not otherwise be prepped beyond its present condition prior to sale.
