Exceptionally cared for 1975 Yamaha U1 upright piano. Tuning and maintenance performed regularly to ensure top playing order. There is literally nothing wrong with this exquisite musical instrument. All 88 keys, all three pedals, all 88 hammers, literally everything is in tip top shape. The beautiful black finish has a high sheen gloss as though it just came off the factory floor at the Yamaha manufacturing facility in Hamamatsu, Japan. The period from 1965 to 1985 is considered to be the pinnacle of tone quality for Yamaha pianos. This piano was produced at the heart of this golden period for Yamaha. The Yamaha U1 is a very well made piano that is built to high standards by Yamaha technicians in their Japanese factories. The pre-owned U1s are an attractive option for many people because it is possible to get a very high quality, good as new upright piano, for a very reasonable price. A piano that has excellent build quality, like the Yamaha U1 can easily last a lifetime when well cared for. Larry Fine The Piano Book, p. 154, 2001 describes why they remain a favoured brand, even amongst piano technicians, who describe them as great pianos to tune, play and listen to.
