Steinway Grand Piano Model A3 (1918)

The Steinway model A3 (also known as the “long A”) is considered by many experts to be the finest piano Steinway ever made. At 6’4 it possesses depth and power in full measure and compares to the model B which is right at 7′. The A3 was only manufactured between the years of 1913 and 1945, so these models are few and far between. This particular piano was manufactured in 1918 in New York and still has the original ivory key tops. It was substantially restored in the 1970s in San Francisco, with the case being refinished, the plate repainted, and a full restringing job. The action was not restored and as is common in Steinway pianos of this era the action is effected by verdigris. The piano plays and even sounds pretty good, but needs to have the action parts fully replaced in order to function at its full potential. Artistic Piano specializes in action replacement on vintage pianos and can offer full replacement. Our Registered Piano Technician has had special training and certification at the Renner USA factory in this area. This piano truly is special!
