Piano is in good condition. The cabinet is in great condition. It has not been tuned in a while for sure. You must have a vehicle and equipment / manpower to move this piano! I would recommend a professional piano mover or similar unless you have experience! Baldwin Acrosonic® the sight and sound of fine music. Maple veneers, carefully selected for beauty of figured grain patterns, immediately establish an Early American flavor. The charm of colonial craftsmanship is also reflected in styling details such as the gracefully turned legs, the distinctively embossed music desk, and the vertical lines of the lid drop and lower frame. Height 40½2″ / Width 59″ / Depth 25. No other vertical piano enjoys so distinguished a heritage as does the Baldwin Acrosonic. The design of the magnificent Baldwin Concert Grand has directly influenced the design of the Baldwin Acrosonic. In the manufacture of both Acrosonics and grands, the same men determine quality standards, select materials, establish procedures. This is why the Acrosonic stands alone in its field for beauty of tone, for immediate response to touch, and for the meticulous execution of its tasteful design. Children, especially, respond to these qualities of excellence. Indeed, a Baldwin can make the inspiring difference to a beginner between just practicing and actually playing. The tonal heart of the Acrosonic is its scale-strings, pinblock, bridges, and soundboard and their relationship to each other. Every element of the famous Acrosonic scale has been carefully designed and built to achieve one basic objective. That of contributing to the beauty of the Acrosonic tone. From such dedication to the tradition of structural integrity comes a piano your child can grow with, a musical instrument which promises a lifetime of rich, pure tone and superb performance. Features found in every Baldwin Acrosonic. Exclusive Full-Blow Action: The Baldwin Full-Blow. Action is different from and superior to any other small piano action. All of the more than 5,000 parts are precision-built to full size. The exclusive design of the Acrosonic action assures a FULL POWER BLOW from the hammers to the strings. The Acrosonic action is so responsive that even the light touch of a child whether playing forte or pianissimo is rewarded with FULL TONE, consistently from note to note. Hammers: Hammers play a vital role in the production of fine tone quality. Hammer making is one of the major areas in which Baldwin research and experience with grand pianos has been passed down to vertical pianos. Today Baldwin uses the same procedures in making Acrosonic hammers, as well as grand hammers, to guarantee not only good tone production but also note-to-note consistency throughout the scale. Most important single factor is the rigid control of hammer felt density-from Baldwin’s own demanding specifications for felt acceptability through exclusive climate conditioning of all hammer felt. Acrosonic hammers are made of select birch, covered with finest quality, all-wool, heavy felt, reinforced with a special felt layer between the wood molding and the outer felt, and glued onto full-length rock maple shanks. Soundboard: The soundboard is made of select vertical-grain mountain spruce, kiln-dried against warping and crowned. Ten ribs, also of vertical-grain mountain spruce, transmit vibrations over the entire width of the soundboard, unifying it into a single, resonating diaphragm. Bridges: Bridges are made of clearest hard rock maple, laminated and capped. Plate: The plate is precision-designed to provide the extreme rigidity necessary to give full support to the high-tension strings and also to provide an accurate framework for the exact placement of the tonal producing elements. Each plate is cast of finest gray iron to the full-size Baldwin vertical scale pattern. Baldwin Piano & Organ Company, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Strings and Pedals: Baldwin strings are the highest grade tempered steel wire. The bass strings are wrapped by Baldwin with solid copper wire. Every Baldwin features three brass working pedals-for full sustaining, bass sustaining, and soft effects. Pinblock: The Baldwin Acrosonic pinblock holds the tuning pins in place like no other vertical piano pinblock. It applies the principles employed in Baldwin Grand pinblocks. Since the pins maintain the tension of the strings, the Baldwin has remarkable tuning stability. The 19-ply laminated and cross-banded pinblock is constructed of northern maple, selected for clarity of grain and absence of defect. Back Frame: The foundation and permanent stability of the Baldwin Acrosonic depend in a large measure upon the strength and solidity of the back frame construction. The Acrosonic has a rigid hardwood back frame, with five full-size hardwood posts. Cabinetry: Baldwin uses today’s most sophisticated and scientific procedures in its cabinet factory throughout all aspects of manufacture from proper seasoning of raw wood to accurate production of the most precise styling details. Baldwin procedures in construction and finishing equal, and often exceed, the highest standards set by the furniture industry. Multiple coats of lacquer, hand sanding, hand rubbing, and other costly procedures all contribute to the unique beauty and clarity of Baldwin finishes and to their long-lasting durability. A Baldwin-built bench will match for the life of the piano because it is designed in the same style, is built of the same woods, and is finished in exactly the same way. A Baldwin bench is built with extra care and extra construction detail to withstand years of hard usage.
