It is Iron Framed, Overstrung and Underdamped with a full keyboard of 7 Octaves. This is a good quality English make of Piano. It is in well preserved original condition and dates the 1960’s. It has been serviced, regulated and tuned to concert Pitch A440. The hammers show very little wear it is in pristine condition due to have not been used much and been in one family for years. This piano is perfect for a beginner or good pianist. It has a great sound, full tone on all the strings and a positive firm touch. Height 1.03 metres – 41. Width 1.33 metres – 52. Chickering 1937 Vintage Walnut Studio Upright Piano & Upholstered Bench #29447. This “studio upright” size piano and matching bench was signed in 1937 by one of America’s great makers, Chickering of Boston. All original, the burl walnut case has octagonal legs and a lyre design music desk. The finish is very well preserved with some fine”crazing” or crackling to show its age. Brass pedals and wheels are original on this vintage musical instrument. Original natural bone keys have some wear and shrinkage separation from age, see photos. There are also shrinkage separations to the sound board which do not affect the tone. The pin block is sound and this piano has been serviced and holds a tune. Size is 59″ wide, 24″ deep and 46 tall. The bench has music storage underneath and is newly upholstered. Measurements are 34″ long, 15″ wide and 19 tall. Please view 30 photos at full screen size for best detail. Beckstein, Concert 8, full upright piano. I chose it originally because it is well known among professionals and the finest upright in the world with sound and touch consistent with the best grand pianos. Completely handmade in Germany, it required many months to obtain this special-order walnut burl finish and the piano is still in perfect condition throughout. It is difficult to photograph as it looks different in different light. Direct light shows off the detailed, matched grained panels. Lower light or indirect lighting gives a darker look but an almost 3-dimensional effect from the grain. Model: Concert 8 full upright. Half of the top lid lifts up for fuller sound. This model’s acoustic assembly, sound volume and as well as its precise and responsive action, will surprise even the most demanding musicians who are used to the touch and sound volume of grands. The acoustic assembly of the C. Bechstein Concert 8 upright is similar to that of the grands made by Beckstein. The sound profile of the Concert 8 upright has even been improved over its predecessor and is handcrafted for concert performance. One of the 3 pedals allows for playing at extremely low but still accurate volumes to avoid disturbing others in the home or next door. Really quite a remarkable characteristic. Dimensions: 52″(h) x 60″(w), 24 (d). Finish: dark walnut burl veneer. Pedals: 3 (optional sostenuto). This burl veneer has a premium cost above that and requires about six months to make.
