Absolutely stunning 1885 Steinway & Sons Model M Upright Grand Piano serial number 57,470. Case custom designed by Pottier & Stymus for original owner, Rothschild family of 4 East 67th Street, NYC. See photo with Rothschild name on inside of piano. R1.2, R1.3, and R1.4 appraisal reports from Kendall Bean of Piano Finders in the Bay Area are now available upon request. The piano is in great shape structurally and musically, having been comprehensively rebuilt and refinished in 1995 by Klavierhaus, New York. Fully restored by Klavierhaus in 1996 – new soundboard, pinblock, rc-pinning & restringing, hammers, hammershanks, whippens, dampers & damper felts, case repair & Lotal refinlahing, restoration of filigree, hand-painted ornamentation and oil painting mounted in front panel. Plays beautifully and is in tune. Has been in the Cow Hollow home of Shirley Ross Davis, notable San Francisco art collector and philanthropist, since 1996. See photos for condition.
