Antique Bechstein upright piano

Bechstein upright piano, serial # 20961, made in 1888. This is the first – and highly likely the last time – I will try to sell a piano, so I don’t know if any of the following history is relevant. Our mother bought it for my sister when we lived in London, UK in the early 1970s. My sister moved to Texas in the late 1970s. It hasn’t been played for decades, instead it’s served as a nice piece of furniture in living rooms since it was last played. It’s been climate-controlled storage in Austin, Texas for the past 2 years. It was last tuned in the early 1980s. Three of the keys aren’t working. It’s in good cosmetic condition, looks great from 6 feet away, but from a few inches away one can see the varnish is aged. It was damaged near the lock when it was being moved into the storage unit, shown in one of the photos. Which is ironic because it survived over a century without any damage at all. It’s located in the Brentwood neighborhood, zip code 78756. Thank you for checking out this listing.

Unique and Rare Piano by a San Antonio, TX piano maker. Tuned and plays well! The firm of Thomas Goggan & Brother was originally established in 1866 in Galveston, Texas by brothers Thomas and Mike Goggan. Both instruments built by Emerson and by Goggan were known to be of exceptional quality. These instruments were distributed mainly throughout the southern states where they were prone to extreme moisture, heat and cold. Their ability to withstand the harsh climate was amazing, and instruments we see by the firm are generally still well preserved and quite restorable.
