VERY RARE Antique Early Faux Rosewood Schoenhut Childs Toy Piano Upright Plays
Wonderful antique Schoenhut child’s piano in good working condition from an old Virginia estate. Could use a little cleaning and TLC but in good solid condition with nice patina. It has 22 white keys and 15 black keys and it measures approximately 24″ long x 24″ high x 12 deep. Has a couple of old minor cosmetic repairs, as shown in photos. Lid has tiny nails that held it on originally, but they were replaced at some point with tiny gold screws. See 4th from last photo. Narrow cracks in wood on one side near bottom. Back has the most significant “repair” where a piece of the edging that held the back on came off one side long ago and the back was just tacked back into place, likely with the original nails. It is not very noticeable to just look at the back but you notice it when you examine it more closely. See last 3 photos. We are keeping the price reasonable on this one due to the minor condition issues but, as it is so rare, you are unlikely to find another in any condition. Steinway & Sons Upright Antique Piano from around 1877. Steinway started making pianos in 1853, so this is one of the earliest pianos Steinway made. These pianos are exceptionally solid – made of thick, great sounding wood and high-quality artisan parts. Weve had it in the family for five generations and used it lovingly. It plays well with regular tune-ups. It has some scratches and nicks from over the years, but nothing major (see photos). A Steinway & Sons technician has worked on it and has it in good shape. Vintage Price and Teeple Piano Upright 1915 Era For Restoration Plays. Been stored indoors at a pastor’s house. Piano tuner looked it over & was impressed on how it sounded for its age, said it has longer strings than a baby grand. Currently sitting in my carport covered. Restore it or play it like it is. My roommate is a pianist, he was shocked how well it sounded and played, not knowing when it was tuned last. Serial # 33488 puts it in around 1915 i think, give or take. Please research and make you own decision. Could be 1932 as i see 7,19,32 and a signature on the metal. Reads Over 30000 Price and Teeple pianos in daily use. Workmanship and material fully guaranteed Price and Teeple piano co Chicago. H 56 1/2″ L 61 1/4″ W 28. I can only post 12 photos, please request more photos. Lock was carefully picked (no key), no pulldown knobs on key cover. Lowest key isn’t working, all others do. 3 white key tops are missing, 1 is chipped, 1 is cracked, some have marks or scratches. Has dings, top left was chipped off (i have the piece minus 1) see picture. Bottom left has some damage also (see picture). Has some white paint drips and smear on right side.
